City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments #4) By Cassandra Clare book review

I just finished this book about one second ago before I picked up my laptop and started writing this review so everything is still fresh in my mind and my mind is still playing with my emotions. I guess it’s a bad idea if you are writing a review if you are almost in pools of tears thanks to that EPIC and oh so amazing cliff-hanger ending.

To be honest, reading a book by Cassandra Clare and reading it knowing you will finish it in a History class is just voodoo. I slammed the book against the table and almost groaned in agony because of that one cliff-hanger ending that just wrecked my poor soul and tore it into tiny little pieces. Worst part is that everyone warned me that this is what will happen to me and I did not listen to them at all.

I seriously can’t tell you what the book is about much but know that it takes place after the events of City of Glass. It is where everyone is dealing with the war where Clary brought Jace back to life. They thought they would be together forever but unfortunately Jace seems to be pushing Clary away. What was just bad dreams to Jace about Clary turn more and more sinister and if I reveal more I’ll just end up spoiling everything.

I loved this book more than City of Glass. I think City of Glass was probably the weakest book in the series but this one delivered so much more and promises an epic two books that will come after this one. I’m not a series reader, I like taking breaks between books but now my hands are itching to get City of Lost Souls.

The characters were better developed and we got more details about them and more backstory. I think the parts that truly make a book up is the backstory and when characters reveal inner-most thoughts. I guess that is where the romantic tension is in the air but I think that it truly makes up a novel and I was glad to see Cassandra Clare the author, add a new side to each character.

ACTUAL RATING: 4.5 STARS

Read the whole series! Cassandra (Clare) is honestly as bad as Uncle Rick (Riordan) with cliffhangers. Trust me it gets worse. YOU WILL GET OTT FEELS!!!

DON'T DO THAT TO YOURSELF!!! CASSANDRA CLARE'S CLIFFHANGERS CAN SERIOUSLY RUIN YOUR LIFE!! I READ CITY OF FALLEN ANGELS DURING HISTORY CLASS (I finished early so I had free time) AND I FINISHED THE BOOK AND.... WELL... I'M A MESS!!! Apparently the cliffhanger was REALLY bad (meaning it made people scream in fury as you would expect in Cassandra Clare's books) in Lord of Shadows but I haven't read it yet.

Trust me I know. They ruin it but make it better too. But I've been waiting for Rick Riordan's new book since the last one came out. I'm still waiting. Until MAY!!!

I'm reading the prequels and sequels at the same time. TDA and TID

Good job! I'm up to City of Lost Souls but I'm going to read that after the book I'm reading at the moment (it's taking a long time to read but I don't want to give up on it)

Losers Bracket by Chris Crutcher. It's an ARC book but I'm struggling to get through it. It's getting easier to understand though.

I got it from a book club meeting (organised by Dymocks). They asked: "WHO LIKES YA CONTEMPORARY?" and I immediately put my hand up.

SA it's part of the Dymocks YA Circle where we discuss new YA releases and talk about our Book Club book of the month (this month it's Neverland by Margot McGovern) It's so much fun and it's a really great way to get involved with bookshops and books :D

What's annoying.... I'm not really into Dan and Phil (not entirely sure who they are), and I've never heard any BTS music anyway... So if we could swap, I would gladly do so.

Plus it's cause Sydney.... being like THE city to go in Aus (apparently).

Sydney is! I'm super jealous!! I'm surprised you don't get as many book related events as Adelaide though... that's strange but if you come over here then I'm sure you'll have a great time at the book club (we're a bunch of crazy fangirls over there :P)

Yeah. I wish they had stuff like all this, ALL over Aus. But sadly they don't. Maybe we should start a website for petitioning for it. : P

Maybe we should ;P. We just had this Harry Potter event at the City Library, but I’m not in a book club worth mentioning. All the good ones are out of town. I seriously wish it was easier to get to SLV.

I wish we had stuff like that. We had a thing at Penrith Dymocks for the 20th Anniversary of HP, last year. And a book release thing with the author like 4/5 years ago.

That's about it though.

This is why you borrow three of the books at the same time and then when you finish one you borrow the next one in the series while reading the one you have at home. I’ve read all of her books, now waiting for the new one

MY HEART CAN'T COPE WITH TOO MANY CASSANDRA CLARE CLIFFHANGERS!!!! no, just joking. I don't know why... I'm that type of reader who likes to read books by different authors in between other books (e.g., I read HP#4, SVTHSA, Grishaverse #1, HP#5) I don't know why I do this to be honest. The only time I read book after book in a series was the Selection series and the ending of the 3rd book I really didn't like. It had too many loose ends.
