Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J Maas Book Review
|Is it bad that I stopped reading this book in October last year and then picked the book up on the same page I was on half a year later?
Probably… Okay yes…
Thing is it was quite easy for me to pick up even though I had no idea what happened in the 124 pages beforehand. Why? Because the book was so slow for about 300 pages. I don’t even remember the whole action scene at the end. Is that bad? (Maybe it’s just proof I’m turning into a human goldfish my memory is becoming vague)
I honestly did find so much of it could’ve been cut out for it’s slowness and for not helping to get the story moving however, this story in particular does give us some more insight into the character of Celaena and introduces some new ones like Manon and Rowan.
It was nice to see new characters but I honestly was here for Dorian (who hands down is my favourite character) and he didn’t show up a lot. From time to time obviously but not as much as Throne of Glass orCrown of Midnight and this whole relationship the developed in this book between Dorian and somebody else? Well okay I wasn’t necessarily shipping him with Celaena but I didn’t get enough of a feel for “Mysterious-lady-who-shall-go-unnamed-for-spoilery-reasons” to like her or to empathise with her.
I’m rating this in the 4 star range for Maas’s writing style. She never fails to write gorgeous scenes and well-rounded characters. Look, this wasn’t the best Throne of Glass book but it wasn’t the worst book ever. I would like to see where the series progresses with Queen of Shadows and the rest of the books!
