SCENARIO #2: BOOK BORROWING (REBELLION OF THE TBR PART 1)

SCENE: You are in the library and you are bored out of your brain cells. You desperately want to look at books or read SOMETHING but you have no book on you. You browse the shelves looking for something that catches your eye. Anything! A book title… a spine… a well-known authors name. Until you browse the shelfs for so many books you want to read them all. You read blurbs wonderous and curious about the stories until in your hands you have enough books to give you muscular biceps. Struggling to carry books you walk to the librarian to borrow.

“These are a lot of books!” The librarian says looking over your giant stack

You try to recover your breath. You don’t exercise much so obviously carrying this book stack is HARD WORK! “I… *huff* … know”

“You still have 4 books that you have borrowed and overdue are you sure you want to borrow this many”

JUST LET ME BORROW THEM you’re about to scream out you are still filled from your small book borrowing rebellion. You told yourself you won’t borrow more and you even promised your family too but on a whim you decided you needed them in your hands. You thought to yourself “Well, I was bound to break that rule anyway might as well go off with a lot of books than just one”¬†

“Yes I’m sure I am ready to tackle this small pile!” and with that you take your stack to your locker. Your hand hurting from carrying this giant weight. When you arrive at your locker your best friend looks at you and your pile. “Not again”

Four weeks later, you returned your books back to the library ready for another stack and another defiance of your ever growing TBR.

This is literally me!! I also refuse to return overdue books until I've finished them- I'd rather stay up all night and pay the fine for returning them a day late.

This is how I was at my old High School, I would just read like 5 in a week and keep returning and reborrowing as soon as I was done with one until I had like 20 out at a time and then I'd stage an intervention, finish them all and then restart the habit

Okay I did something way worse when I was first got severely into books: I asked my friend to borrow more books under my name (I had 20-22 at one point) while I distracted the librarian to help me tie up my shoelaces (this was when I was 7 so calm down yes, I do know how to tie shoelaces now) sometimes they weren't even shoelaces they were sandals where you just needed to buckle the strap in. I knew how to do it and the teacher I reckon knew it was just a diversion.

I only got into reading when I was 7 too!! before that I hated reading with a passion (I know I can't believe this too) and I could only tie my laces when I was 11 so don't worry you're fine ;)
