Hello there!

As we all know being in a fandom is life. When you commit to a fandom you put your heart and soul into it (or Seoul in my case.*hysterical laughter* sorry that was a really bad pun) but fandom is where you can really communicate with people who are just like you and fangirl/fanboy about the same book series, singer/band, movie or tv show. In a fandom you can do whatever you want to show your love and appreciation for them and here are just some ways fans do just that:

SOCIAL MEDIA FRENZY

You have to just like every single tweet, facebook post, instagram post, every single Pinterest pin of them. Every single fan art and animo feature cannot be left untouched! You need to hype your fandom up and boost their fanbase! You retweet everything to your followers where 1.8K or just 8… nevertheless you are helping your favourite movie, actor or singer reach out to more people you kind of like a low-key promoter! Which is awesome and epic. It means you are always on top of all the latest news and gossip!  This of course is the case with many of BTS’s fans also known as the ARMY who have taken over twitter in large numbers. They have even gotten the group into the Guiness World Records for group with the most amount of likes and retweets taking over Donald Trump and Justin Bieber. It just proves to show how far a like and retweet can go and if you are social media crazy in a fandom you really do contribute to this number!

BINGE BINGE BINGE

It’s just what the heading says: BINGE BINGE AND BINGE! Let’s just say that J.K Rowling announced Harry Potter book 9 and the world is in hysterics! You just got to read, re-read and re-re-read the series and watch all the movies over and over again before the big day when it’s released! This also works with TV series, movies and singers. It’s like how before Solo: The Han Solo movie comes out how many Star Wars fans might be doing this whole movie marathons months, weeks or days before the movie comes out!

CREATING FAN ART

The good ol’ fan art is a popular one on fandom sites. I just wished I was good at drawing and manipulating the image in photoshop to get a really awesome result! But for those who are more artistic you might just want to draw the jawline of your favourite character or you are just dying to redraw that instagram photo that you and the rest of the world are going nuts over. Fandoms love fan art too and it’s fun seeing people’s reactions to your artwork.

WRITING FAN FICTION

Fan fiction has fan written all over it. Everyone writes or day dreams about their favourite character and what happens after they close the book. Even Simon Spier from Simon vs the Homo-sapiens agenda wrote fan fiction about Love Actually! (I cried a little on the inside when I red this) Fan fiction is even where great writers get started! Meagan Spooner and Amie Kaufman wrote fan fic and discovered their passion and love of writing by doing this (I went to a book signing where they told their readers this during a Q&A) and it’s really fun to do to: dreaming and imagining if you were like Clary and a hardcore Shadowhunter who kicked evil’s butt!

YOUTUBE (REACTIONS, REMIXES, ETC)

Some people might be bad at drawing or just get anxious looking at that blinking cursor on a blank screen so I would recommend trying to upload things onto Youtube this might be a reaction video or maybe a remix of your two favourite songs, a discussion on your favourite book, a video format of a fan fiction and more. On Youtube your creativity is endless and you are not limited by your imagination! Why not give it a go?

DECORATING YOUR ROOM

I think we have all been through this phase. But this is when you hang up massive posters of your fandom up across the walls with your favourite character’s poster on a wall where you can always see it and it can always see you. You get merch and maybe even bed covers and pillows that match with the theme: e.g., space bedcovers and Star Wars (Galaxy theme) basically you go crazy decorating your room or house with fandom aesthetics and you might also do instagram pictures of your interior decorating skills!

SENDING FAN MAIL

Sometimes you just HAVE to tell your favourite person in the whole world you love them. Twitter is not good enough with only 200 character limits but the idea of handwriting and pouring your emotions into a letter and posting it in the mailbox just sends your heart fluttering with exhilaration and excitement.

COMMUNICATING WITH OTHER FANS

Communication is key to a fandom! Just talk with others through online forums or on social media such as instagram, twitter, facebook etc. I would personally recommend Amino. It’s a fandom site where you can post fan fic, fan art and other blog posts to people of the fandom community!
